Liposomes are well-known vesicular cosmetic delivery systems.Liposomes are, by definition, a tiny bubble of fat (Vesicle), made out of the same material as a cell membrane, creating a biomimetic structure comparable to the skin.

The origin is from Lecithin, a compound from egg yolk. In cosmetic formulations they are used as a delivery system, carrying active ingredients present in cosmetic products, to the deeper layers of the epidermis.
